After going to Anglesey off and on for about 10 years now, plus the countless summer holidays spent in North Wales as a child I came to realise that our tiny island neighbour is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places I’ve been to in my forty something years.
It has everything I could ever want, peaceful beaches, long leisurely walks along country lanes or rocky coasts and endless skies stretching of into the distance where they finally descend into the glorious blue sea surrounding the whole of North Wales.
But even here, on an island that offers so much there are certain places that you arrive at again and again where that one thought pops into your head “wouldn’t it be great to live here”
Cymyran Bay, behind RAF Valley is such a place for me, not only is it a wonderful beach, it’s nearly always almost deserted, is always clean and we’ve even caught a few good fish here in the past. Sitting on the edge of the ‘river’, running between Anglesey proper and Holy Island is Plas Cymyran, quiet possibly the house I would most like to own, anywhere. I doubt if it will ever come up for sale or if it did we’d be able to gather the funds to move there before someone else snapped it up, but it’s nice to dream once in a while…
