To keep us motivated through the darker, wetter and definitely colder months we set ourselves a target race for the start of the year, the Inskip Derby ArmsĀ Half Marathon. This was to be Wendy’s longest race and the build up was going well until, at the start of December, she tripped over a grid, gashed her knee and badly sprained her wrist. It was just less than a couple of weeks ago that my first year of running came to a satisfactory conclusion or if you like, my second year of running got off to a flying start. The time had finally come, all the Sunday mornings getting up early and going for a long run had come to this.
