Spring Arrives with Frogspawn at Queens Park

Queens Park, Bolton, Frogspawn at last
It looks like Winter has had his final fling as the winds die down a bit in Lancashire this week although Scotland is still getting a bit of Snow. There are definite signs of Spring as I found my first lot of Frogspawn for 2011 during my lunchtime walk through Queens Park in Bolton today – 9 days later than last year although not surprising considering the sub-zero Winter we’ve just had. I also spotted a Peregrine Falcon hunting Pigeons over the town centre on my way to the park, hopefully they’ll nest on the town hall now that the tower repairs have been completed.

With the Daffodils showing and the wild Garlic and Bluebells just itching to burst into flower we’ll be seeing lambs soon and I can’t wait, this Winter seems to have been a long one…
