West Lancashire Light Railway Steam Gala

We’ve not being doing much sea fishing or walking these few weeks since getting back from our summer break to Anglesey as we’ve either been sorting out bits and pieces around the house or the weather has been just a bit too British.

I did notice that the local narrow gauge railway, The West Lancashire Light Railway, were having a steam gala so deciding on a lazy Sunday I made the exhausting 1/2 mile walk to the centre of the village.

As well as the trains which were ferrying people up and down the narrow tracks, there were traction engines, classic cars and displays of model trains in the sheds. The gala was surprisingly busy but as at any steam based event the best bits were the grins, claps and cheers from the children whenever the steam trains blew their whistles.
