Tiny Worlds on the Forest Floor

Sometimes it’s worth while just looking a bit more closely at the things you are about to stand on. Walking round Newborough Forest on Anglesey we came across all sorts of fungi, we’ve no idea what any of it was so didn’t pick any and just took a few snaps where we could.

There were a lot of rotting tree stumps, mostly old pines, with a variety of lichens, mosses and fungi feeding on the slowly decaying wood. This one looks almost like a tiny version of a ‘lost world’ type of plateau, all it needed was a few beetles being ridden by tiny warriors to make the scene complete.
